Overview

This site does not require an account. It handles only the information needed to understand site use, remember display preferences, and offer reactions and comments.

Analytics

Cloudflare Web Analytics is used to understand visits and site performance. The analytics service is provided by Cloudflare and is subject to its privacy terms. This site does not add its own advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Embedded videos

Some articles embed videos from YouTube using its privacy-enhanced player at youtube-nocookie.com. When a player loads or you play a video, your browser communicates with Google/YouTube, which receives connection information such as your IP address and browser details. Playback is handled by YouTube under its own privacy policy.

Reactions and comments

A comment stores the name you choose to provide, its text, and the time it was posted. A reaction stores its type and time. The application does not store the raw IP address. It stores a salted, one-way hash derived from the request address and user agent to limit comment abuse and prevent one visitor from adding the same reaction repeatedly.

Comment records are kept until they are removed through moderation. Reaction records are kept until the reaction is removed or the interaction data is cleared. To request deletion, send the page URL, approximate posting time, and comment text to the contact address below.

Browser storage

The theme and preferred language are stored in your browser’s local storage. They are used only to restore your choices and are not sent to the comments or reactions database.

Unsent comment names and text are kept in this tab’s session storage so you can return from another page without losing your draft. They are sent only when you post. An accepted draft is removed; edits made while posting are kept. Closing the tab ends the storage session.
